Green Day Wrap Up New Album

The always reliable Green Day fansite Green Day Authority is reporting that the band has apparently wrapped up recording in the studio. The site discovered this fact in a somewhat unusual way:

"Back in November we learned that the band was recording at the same studio where they recorded American Idiot, Ocean Way Recording in Hollywood, CA - same place where they recorded previous albums as well.

"Someone decided to go check it out, and found the guys parking spaces reserved, pretty much confirming the band was definitely there recording.

"A few days ago another visit to the studio showed the parking spaces were no longer reserved, leaving us to assume that recording is done; though, with no official word from the band, we can't really make any promises."

The follow up to "American Idiot" is expected this year.

Muse Aim To Include 'Hardest Song Ever' On New Album

Answering questions from fans on the Muse forum, bassist Chris Wolstenholme confirmed that work had started on the follow-up to their 2006 album "Black Holes And Revelations".

Wolstenholme
wrote: "It would be nice to have the album out in the second half of next year [2009] but we have not set ourselves any targets. It is more important for us to make the best album we have made to date, and if that means it comes out in 2010 then we don't mind." The star did add that he and the rest of the band were hoping to make the earlier release date.

The trio also revealed that the album could feature the "hardest song" frontman Matt Bellamy has ever written.

"There is a new song in three parts, more of a symphony than a song, which I have been working on sporadically for many years," said the singer, answering another question. "As a large percentage of the composition is orchestral, I have never wanted to collaborate with a string arranger as they may make it 'theirs'. So I have been arranging the orchestral elements myself, which is taking a long time. It should hopefully make the next album as the final three tracks."

Meanwhile the band also joked that having recently been given honorary doctorates they have been enjoying using their new titles.

One fan asked whether they had used the phrase "Trust me, I'm a doctor", to which drummer Dominic Howard joked: "I use that line every day... I just hope I'm not in the situation where someone takes me seriously and asks me to do something. At that point I will just have to offer a healing drumbeat."

"New Born" Cool Music from Muse

"New Born" is a song by the English band Muse available on the eponymous single, the album Origin of Symmetry and on the Hullabaloo Live DVD.

The main piano melody is based on broken chords, a technique used in numerous other Muse songs, such as "Sunburn" and "Bliss".

The band is known for performing modified, more elaborate versions of the song when playing live. In particular, Matt Bellamy now plays a slightly re-worked piano part during the intro, and substitutes the tremolo technique used in the solo for tapping. At the end of the song, Bellamy plays a riff from Rage Against the Machine's cover of "Microphone Fiend" or Deftones "Headup".

Matthew Bellamy said of the song: "It's about a semi-fear of the evolution of technology, and how in reality it's destroying all humanity. My fear is that we can't control it because it's moving faster than we are, so the songs setting myself in a location in the future where the body is no longer important and everyone's plugged into a network. The opening line is 'link it to the world', so it's connecting yourself on a worldwide scale and being born into another reality, in a way it's on the same lines as the film The Matrix, but we weren't intending on copying their idea on technology and how it has evolved.” The song was also remixed by Paul Oakenfold for the movie Swordfish, although it doesn't appear in the movie, it appears on the soundtrack.

Chris Wolstenholme said: "New Born I think between the three of us is probably one of our favourite tracks off Origin of Symmetry. It is a good live track. I think it's one of the songs which showcases the experimental side of the band. It is not really a conventional pop song. I think a lot of the reason for choosing these songs is that we went for the heavier more direct kind of songs rather than going for anything too mellow".

The song was featured in the film Haute Tension. The B-sides "Shrinking Universe" and "Map of Your Head" were featured on the Hullabaloo Soundtrack in the B-sides collection.

The song was "performed" on Live & Kicking, but due to the BBC producers not allowing the band to perform live, Matthew Bellamy waved his hands around instead of playing the keyboard. Chris Wolstenholme (bass) and Dom Howard (drums and percussion) swapped instruments for this mime performance.

"Dear God" from Avenged Sevenfold

"Dear God" the 10th and final song as well as fourth single from Avenged Sevenfold's self-titled album. Recently, Avenged Sevenfold has stated that they will choose fans who have been "spreading the gospel of A7X". The date for the video was released on September 30th, 2008. It is one of the band's singles to not chart in the United States, having been one of the most unsuccessful singles from the band.

The music video shows some parts of the bands live shows, some footage of the band backstage and also footage of the band playing the song in a studio set and on their tour bus in the form of a real-life video (much like the video for the bands' single Unholy Confessions) as it shows some of the bands partners. The video faded the audio out of the song several seconds after the the vocals of the song ended, therefore shortening the length of the song from its' original 6:34 span.

Warner Brothers posted previews of the video on Youtube (see the music video) and the video was leaked in its full form, but was quickly removed from the internet by Warner Bros. Since the 15th June 2008 the video has been shown on Scuzz Tv in the UK and Kerrang! music channel.

Shots where a live crowd is singing along with the song was shot at the same concert in Long Beach, California, at which their live concert/album DVD, Live in the LBC & Diamonds in the Rough, was shot. The crowd was notified of them being on the video prior to the band coming on stage. The song was played prior to the band coming out and was not actually part of the concert.

The video was officially released to the US on September 30, 2008.

MUSE

Muse are an English rock band that was formed in Teignmouth, Devon, England in 1994. Since their inception, the band has comprised Matthew Bellamy (vocals, guitar, piano), Christopher Wolstenholme (bass guitar, vocals, keyboards) and Dominic Howard (drums, percussion). Muse are known best for their energetic and visually dazzling live performances and on June 16 and 17, 2007 became the first band to sell out the newly built Wembley Stadium in London. Muse have released four studio albums. Their most recent, Black Holes & Revelations garnered the band a Mercury Prize nomination and a third place finish in the NME Albums of the Year list for 2006. Muse have won many other music awards throughout their career, including five MTV Europe Music Awards, five Q Awards, four NME Awards, two BRIT awards and four Kerrang! Awards.

The members of Muse played in separate bands during their stay at Teignmouth Community College and Coombeshead College in the early 1990s. The formation of Muse began when Bellamy successfully auditioned for the part of guitarist in Dominic Howard's band. They asked Chris Wolstenholme, who played drums at the time, to learn to play bass guitar for the band. Wolstenholme agreed and took up lessons.

In 1994, under the name Rocket Baby Dolls and with a goth/glam image, the group won a local battle of the bands contest, smashing their equipment in the process. "It was supposed to be a protest, a statement", Bellamy said, "so, when we actually won, it was a real shock. A massive shock. After that, we started taking ourselves seriously". Shortly after the contest, the three decided to forego university, quit their jobs, change the band name to Muse, and move away from Teignmouth.
